Sustainability

The sustainable fashion trend has emerged as a savior of the future in today’s world of disrespect to the nature. The basic principles of this trend include but are not limited to manufacturing recyclable products without using toxic materials and minimizing damage to the environment by manufacturing products that add value both to the manufacturers and the consumers.  The requirement for raising awareness on sustainability and minimizing unnecessary purchasing has become a priority in these days of fast consumption resulting from a continuously changing and regenerating fashion market.

The fashion industry is the second highest polluting industry in the world after the oil industry. The textile industry is responsible for 20% of global water pollution. It takes 2700 liters of water to make one T-shirt, which is enough for one person to drink for 900 days. When we add production of environmentally hazardous raw materials to water pollution resulting from the dyeing techniques employed in the manufacturing process, the damage increases exponentially. Therefore, the importance of adopting an ethical manufacturing approach and using sustainable and recyclable raw materials increases every day.

Increasing awareness of global brands on this matter calls for taking measures. Sustainability aims at using organic, natural and recyclable materials and engaging in fair trade that is harmless to animals, respectful to the restricted resources of the earth, compliant with humanitarian requirements and helpful to the public, with a view to creating a better world.

The Hip + Happen brand is well aware of the harm given to the nature and the environment. We engage in ethical manufacturing by observing humanitarian values. We minimize environmental damage by using natural, sustainable, recycled fabrics and materials. We use recycled materials also for packaging and labeling to avoid consumption of plastics. We recycle redundant fabrics to design various other products under our zero waste policy.

Would you like to support this trend? We kindly ask you to inquire the place and method of production of your clothes. Please support local and responsible production. Please keep in mind that you support poor manufacturing conditions every time you buy cheap products that are manufactured under poor conditions. We urge you to shop from more transparent and sustainable brands. We should not forget that if we manage to convince even a single person to change his/her habits to contribute to conscious consumption, that would be the start of a huge movement. We should be aware of the power and contribute to sustainable life by changing our preferences.
